Kirkintilloch Herald 25th April 1917 An officer of the A.&.S.H. has written Mrs. Docherty, 104 Townhead, informing her that her son, Pte. James Docherty, A.&.S.H., has been killed in France. He was killed instantly, and was buried with full military honours. Pte. Docherty was 22 years of age, and enlisted in the Army 2 years and 9 months ago, when he was working as a miner at Auchengeich. He had been 9 months in France. His father and a younger brother are also in the Army.
