He was appointed Lieutenant on 22 February, 1868. He had been in the regiment since 1857. 3. Residence: House on Queen near Barrie, 1865, Kingston, Ulster, New York, United States of America. 6290 This entry in the City Directory gives him as Ensign in the Royal Canadian Rifles. But it begs the question what he was doing living in the US at the time. 4. Military: Engineer in Royal Canadian Rifles, 1867, St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. 6289 He achieved the rank of Ensign on the 29rd of July 1862 according to "The new army list, militia list and Indian civil service list, exhibiting..." He was appointed Lieutenant on 22 February, 1868. He had been in the regiment since 1857. Archibald married Caroline Martha JONES, daughter of Col. The Hon. Robert JONES and Caroline JONES, on 19 Nov 1863 in Christieville, Rouville, Quebec, Canada 6287.,6288 (Caroline Martha JONES was born on 23 Jul 1839 in Philipsburg, Montérégie, Québec, Canada 6291, christened on 5 Sep 1839 in Philipsburg, Montérégie, Québec, Canada 6291 and died on 14 Jan 1908 in Baskerville, Guildford, Surrey, England 6292.) |
