Of course it is impossible to say with absolute certainty which "Mr. Morey" was the father of Mary in this register entry. But after much debate and consideration, Margaret Dickson had concluded that it was Richard Morrey, the ancestor of her husband, Ray. I mulled it over and at length agreed with her.
But I still retain a measure of doubt since there a number of other Morry men in Dartmouth at that time raising families and it would seem to me likely that one of them must have married a woman who was a Dissenter, thus the reason for Mary and her sister, Honour Caroline, being Christened at the Flavel Congregational Meeting House.
It occurs to me that it was not unlikely that this could have been Matthew Morry married to Mary Graham, since Mary Graham, just from her name, would have roots in Scotland and may have been Presbyterian in orientation. Countering this argument is the fact that we know that all of their other children were Christened at St. Saviour's. But there is still room for debate on account of the fact that I cannot find a baptism record for Mathew and Mary's daughter, Mary, in any of the other church registers I have examined.
On balance, however, it seems far more likely that she is a daughter of Richard Morey and Mary Downing, all of whose other children were baptised, so far as we know, at the Presbyterian dissenters church so today I am removing this record as applying to the daugher of Matthew Morry and Mary Graham.

8. Alt. Burial, 7 Mar 1870, St. Petrox Parish, Dartmouth, Devon, England. 1920,2823 220818:
I cannot be certain that this is her burial record because the age stated (85) at the time of death is inconsistent with her Christening record, by which she would have been 81 at the time. But such inconsistencies were common in death and burial records and probably still are because the few survivors who gave the information had no idea how old the aged person really was. The fact that there were several Graham relatives buried here argues in favour of this being her burial record.

However:
Census records for 1841, 1851 and 1861 show a Mary Kemp living in St. Petrox ward and in the 1841 Census it clearly shows her husband's name as Thomas so I believe this clinches the fact that this burial is for another Mary Kemp.
I am therefore removing this death and burial information but retaining them as alternates until I can find the correct information.
