2. Will: Will of Matthew Morry II, 25 Apr 1856, Ferryland, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. 787 Will and associated estate papers of Matthew Morry II. This copy, which is more complete than that in the Morry collection at The Rooms (MG231 Box 1, File 1) and in better condition, is in Aunt Jean's research notes now held by Karen Chapman This event was shared from Matthew MORRY II JP who also shared it with Anne SANDERS (Heir), Peter Paint LE MESSURIER (Executor), and Priscilla Ann MORRY (Heir).

3. Property: Sale of Timber Cove Fishing Room, 28 Sep 1856, Brigus South, Cape Broyle, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. 728 In brief, a portion of the late Matthew Morry II's property in Timber Cove, Brigus South, is being sold by his executors to a man named Badcock whose Christian name is not given either in the covering letter or the description. This is probably actually William Battcock, not Badcock, who was already established in business in Brigus South and owned the property beside this one. The date of the transaction, or at least the letter recording it, was Sept. 28, 1856, a few months after Matthew Morry II's death. This event was shared from Matthew MORRY II JP who also shared it with Peter Paint LE MESSURIER (Trustee), Thomas Graham MORRY II (Trustee), and William BATTCOCK (Party).

13. Property: Letter from Robert to Thomas Graham Morry re sale of Sweetland Property, 22 Sep 1871, Calvert, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. 734 In July 2015 whilst going through an eclectic group of files at The Rooms which are referred to as the 1000-2000 series, and which are put together in boxes in an effort to do a preliminary sorting of materials that have yet to be properly accessed into the permanent Manuscript series, I came upon another Morry document that really ought to be included in the above collection. It is filed as 1000-2000 Series files, Box 26 in the Series 2015, File 14. It was indexed as a letter pertaining to Sweetland property in Cape Broyle/Caplin Bay and indeed that is what it was but what the index did not say was that it was in fact a letter from my 2nd great granduncle Robert Morry to his brother, Thomas Graham Morry, concerning these lands, which at the time were in his possession, presumably as the agent for the Sweetland family, the Sweetlands long since having vacated the southern shore for central Newfoundland and the US. I have asked that this letter be relocated to MG 237. This event was shared with Thomas Graham MORRY II.

16. Occupation: Poor Commissioner, 1877, Calvert, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. 831 Letter from D.W. O'Mara, J.P., Magistrat in Ferryland to Robert Morry Esq., Poor Commissioner, Calvert, on June 5 1877 a photocopy and transcript of which were found in the Anna Elton Morris Collection (11-090 - 4 Boxes) at the Archives and Special Collections Section of the CNS, July 4, 2018.

19. Interesting: Letter from unknown correspondent in St. John's re selling partridge, 8 Oct 1887, St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. 834 This letter came at a time when Robert's fishing business was defunct and he was earning a living from a variety of small income sources. Apparently one of these was the selling of partridge in town via this unknown correspondent. The photocopy of the letter and a rough transcription were found amongst the papers of Anna Elton Morris at CNS/ASC at MUN but it is believed the original remained with Vic Le Messurier Badcock and may now be with her son Gordon.

20. Occupation: Merchant, 2 Oct 1888, Ferryland, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. 835

21. Occupation: Fisherman, 1894-1897, Calvert, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. 836 Robert was probably no more a fisherman than I am but he was listed as such because of his longstanding involvement in the fish business as a cod liver oil manufacturer. That business had gone bankrupt long since in 1879 and he survived on small government appointments after that.

22. Interesting: Evening Telegram article about Robert/Matthew Morry's gold Spanish coin, 26 Sep 1895, St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. 837 This event was shared with Capt. Matthew MORRY.
