"I would like to pay tribute to my Uncle Andrew Shaw who was from Little Heart's Ease, son of Margaret Walsh/Wm Shaw. He married dad's sister, May Stanford, in 1921. He was wounded in the hip and the bullet was so placed that it couldn't be removed and remained there for the rest of his life. Thereafter he walked with a cane. During the war he was reported missing and eventually found as a prisoner of war at Soltau, a German Prisoner of War Camp. He underwent a lot of hardship with problems with his wounds and also wrote home that he was hungry. He requested they check with the Red Cross as their parcels weren't received. ...Lest we forget."
