Death: The only siblings mentioned in Peter Tessier's will of 1827 are his widowed sister Elizabeth Banfill, and Ann Stabb of Newfoundland; it seems likely that his brother,Robert, died prior to that.

Here are Jean Carter Stirling's notes regarding the two sons named Robert who were both alive at the same time:

The baptism records of her children show a Robert Carter Tessier and a Robert Tessier. The second one was baptised before the first, Robert Carter Tessier, had died. The family had switched churches, to St. Saviour's, though still in Dartmouth, and I am guessing that Robert Carter Tessier was re-baptized in the new church, perhaps because he was sickly (he died not long after). Otherwise, why would parents name a baby Robert when they already had one with that name? It's just a "detective" point, seeing Robert Carter Tessier died, and Robert Tessier is never mentioned again.

Although the birth announcement does not give the name of the male child I had this information already from George LeMessurier's family tree. I assume this was the same boy as it was the only one named in that family tree. Obviously the birth of a first son in this important family was considered a big event from the number of newspapers in which the announcement appeared.

Birth announcement indicates that Father was Hon. P.G. Tessier.

Death announcement appeared on 18 Apr 1890 in: 1) Gazette (Royal Newfoundland Gazette) 1807- 2) Times and General Commercial Gazette 1832-1895

It notes the place and date of death as being the same as his wife soI suspect there was some kind of an accident that claimed both lives.

281106: Note that George LeMessurier indicated that he was unmarried. This conflict needs to be checked.

190912: Transcript of burial record at St. Mary the Virgin Anglican Church by Jill Marshall along with her notes:

This seems to validate earlier information of a marriage despite George LeMessurier's notation to the contrary.
