220108: I've made a leap to connect Mary to these parents and the more I look at it the less likely it seems. The dates and places are wrong. I may have to remove the entire ancestral line starting with her presumed parents and siblings. But her marriage was witnessed by Philip Foal Jr.so there are arguments either way: 11/2/1766: John LUKE & Mary FOAL, by Licence. Both Sign. Wits; Philip Foal, Jnr. & John Brownson, Jnr.

Her marriage was by license, which means she was underage. Whether 16 constituted being underage in those days or she was even younger than that is unknown.

We do know, however, that her mother's name was Mary because in the Probate documents submitted by Matthew Morry after her death, he mentions that Mary Foale Morry's mother, also named Mary Foale, was responsible for carrying off various household articles before Matthew arrived from Newfoundland to take charge of and secure the estate.

I do not know for certain that this is a brother of Mary Foal but their marriages being so close in time to one another in the same parish is a strong indication that they may be brother and sister. in the Transcribed record the date shows as 00 12 1770. They place the day of the month first normally so it is impossible to know whether they meantthat the original register record was in December but they don't knowon which day the marriage took place or whether the marriage took place on the 12th day of an unknown month. I suspect the former is true.
