Grover C. Fugate FUGATE, Grover C. Grover C. Fugate, 86, of West Hartford, beloved husband of Ruth (Wheeler) Fugate, died Saturday, (November 5, 2005) at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center. Born in Quick Sand, KY, he had lived in West Hartford for many years. Mr. Fugate and his wife were antiquing and flee market enthusiasts. Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Mel Agdish of Newington; a son and daughter-in-law, Grover J. and Andrea Fugate of Warwick, RI; four grandchildren; a sister, Dora McKenzie and two brothers, Herman Fugate and Hubert Fugate. Funeral services are private. The Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford, has care of the arrangements.

Apparently born in 1898 since the 1920 Census listed his age as 22. He was shown as being born in Tennessee and being a labourer for an alcohol distributor (possibly a moonshiner?). Since their eldest son Carl was born in about 1918 (2 years old at time of the 1920 census) I suspect they were married in about 1918.

Hubert L. Fugate, age 76, of Eaton, Ohio, died on Friday, July 8, 2011 at his residence. Born on December 18, 1934 in Floyd County Kentucky he was the son of the late Henry & Flaura (Tharpe) Fugate, Sr. Hubert served in the Ohio National Guard from January 1953 to January 1955 and the U.S. Air Force from January 1955 to October 1958. He was an Inspector at General Motors. Preceded in death by Brothers: Carl Fugate, Grover Fugate, Paul Fugate, Henry Fugate, Jr.; William Fugate, Charles Fugate, Delanno Fugate and Robert Fugate; Sister: Mozela Cripps. Survived by his Wife: Laura Mae (Jones) Fugate; Sons: Rodney Clay Schwartz and Robert Schwartz, Jr. both of Florida; Daughters & Son-In-Law: Ashley Dean of Florida and Kimberly Sue & Timothy Jones of West Manchester, OH; Brother: Herman Fugate of New Lebanon, OH; Sisters: Irene Webb of Brookville, OH and Dora McKenzie of Winchester, KY; Many Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Nieces & Nephews.
