Note that, as it has not been possible to view the actual announcement on any of the online newspaper sources, it is not known when the actual date of the marriage took place and it is suspected that the date given by Gert Crosbie was actually the date the notice appeared in at least some of the newspapers but not the date of marriage.

As the notice appeared in FerrylandBibliography:
"14 Feb. 1872. Times/Newfoundlander/Express. Marriage of George G. White, 3rd son of John White of Ferryland, to Katie Power, of late John Power of St. John's, at residence of bride by Rev. D. Lynch."

In view of the fact that the marriage took place at the bride's residence, it is quite possible that it did not appear in any church register.

Dermot Leo Power - (May 4, 1947 - July 23, 2024) - It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Dermot "Derm" Power at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital on July 23, 2024, after a long battle with Parkinsons and lung cancer.
Predeceased by his mother and father, Elizabeth and Leo Power, his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Henry and Bridget Carew, his loving wife, Carmel (nee Carew), sisters, Bertha Halfyard and Gertrude Norris and brothers, Joseph Power and Gerard Power.
Leaving to mourn are his son, Randy (Joy), daughter, Tanya (Barry), and granddaughters, Alyssa and Julianna. His sisters, Agnes Melvin (Phonse, deceased) and Irene Coady (Steve). Also leaving to mourn many nieces and nephews, especially a very special niece, Sherry (Johnny) - who had been a great advocate for him during his times of need.
A special thank you to Derms' caregivers, Lorraine and Nikiata and close friend and neighbour, Jason O'Driscoll and his family.
As per his wishes, cremation has taken place, a celebration of life and burial will be planned at a later date, to be announced.
