Carol, Thank you for inviting me to look at your family tree. I've looked at information I have about a James Quinlisk and have some disparate, but promising information.

1. Back on 24 Dec 2001, a Linda Williamson posted on Genealogy.com that she had an 1880 census for James and Margaret Quinlisk from Sargeant, McKean Co., PA, and noted that some of the family relocated to Jefferson Co.in later years. They were reportedly both 48 years old though, and had 5 sons and 3 daughters, one of whom was named Ida and she was 12 years old.

2. Back on 18 Aug 2002, an Annette E. Quinlisk posed information about her husband's ggrandfather James Quinlisk (c. 1825-1899) on the Quinlisk Rootsweb message board. She said he was married to Margaret Tracy and emigrated about 1849.

3. I'm currently in contact with others researching the Quinlisk name and have information that a James Quinlisk, b. 24 Apr 1825, in Garlase, Co. Tipperary, IRL, was the son of John Quinlisk and Margarett Ryan, and brother to John, b. 1822 and Michael, b. 1833 (my gg-grandfather.) James was baptised 24 Apr 1825 at the Borrisokane RC Church, Co. Tipperary, IRL. This was obtained by Chris Morry from Norah O'Meara, Tipperary North Family History Foundation, on 17 Jul 2000.

If you believe, as I do, that these "facts" are all about the same James Quinlisk, then we are related; your gg-grandfather is probably my gg- grandfather's brother. It amused me that Ida reminds me very much ofanother Quinlisk I've just met last month; PJ Quinlisk who lives on the family farm where those pictures you saw on Ancestry were taken. Let me make sure all the interested parties don't mind you having their email addresses and soon you'll probably be deluged with Quinlisk information. What are your thoughts? On the basis of the above information I am adding information on James's immigration and his age at death and wife's name. Obviously this is as yet unproven. It could easily have been another (or even severalother) James Quinlisks to whom these various bits of information referred but I will suspend disbelief for the moment and use the information subject to future proof.

Carol Nazaruk is apparently the only person in the world who knows where Garlase, Co. Tipperary, Ireland is because only she shows up on the internet using this address when you do a search for that location. God only knows where this person was really from.
