090312: His gravestone in the Ferryland Anglican Cemetery (Forge Hill) was transcribed years ago by Roberta Sullivan for the NGB website. Her reading of it is:
"Weston Peter one of his majesty's Justices of the Peace for this Harbour, died 13 July 1776 aged 63 yrs "He was affectionate husband, a tender father, and a sincere friend" Also, William, son of above Peter and Catherine Weston, died December 1760 ages 6 months"
The stone is now more or less illegible so this transcript will have to be taken on face value though it is a known fact that many of Roberta's other gravestone transcriptions were incomplete and contained errors.
210614:
There is confusion over his date of death. Jean Carter Stirling had it as 1773, Harcourt Gardiner (not a reliable source) had 1776, and Roberta Sullivan transcribed his gravestone which was even then barely visible and came up with 13 Jul 1776. Since his will was signed in 1775, he most likely died in 1776 but the actual date cannot be confirmed as there are no paper records of it.

040723:
After a thorough cleanup of the Northside/Forge Hill cemetery yesterday it can be stated with absolute certainty that this stone was never located there. When it was photographed and transcribed by Dr. Gerald Pocius he never stated where he found it and Roberta Sullivan only assumed that it was in the Northside cemetery. Dr. Pocius has ignored two enquiries by me to straighten out the confusion. A stone that appears to be the same stone but that has been illegible for years is found in the Southside Cemetery. Therefore I am making this change today.

Gerald Pocius confirmed by email yesterday that the stone was located in 1974 in the old Non-Denominational cemetery during the course of his research and was transcribed by a researcher at the MUN Folk Lore Archive based upon the photograph that he took at that time:
