From - The Telegram, St. John's, Newfoundland. November 26, 2013. Marcella Walsh (Brophy) - Of Fermeuse aged 83 years old. Passed peacefully away at the Health Science Complex on November 25, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her husband George T. Walsh, (October 24, 2009) parents Thomas & Elizabeth Brophy, brothers Patrick, Jim, Edward, Charles, Kevin, Anthony & sisters Theresa, Annie & Ann, brother in law Martin Walsh. Left with fond & loving memories her eight children, Doug (Andrea), Myra (Wayne), Tom (Cynthia), Christine (Kevin), Virginia (Brian), Reg (Molly), Emily (Randy), Georgina (George). Grandchildren Jason, Janine, Matthew Walsh, Christopher & Colin Keats, Vanissa, Chad & Evan Walsh, Ian Barnible, Jessica Kane, Rebecca Pennell, Jillian & Nicole Walsh. Great grandchildren Jonathan & James Walsh, Ryan & Kate Steele, Brooke, Addison & Nathan Keats, Diezel Walsh, Alexis & Olivia Kane. Will be sadly missed by her sister in laws Mary J Brophy (Boston), Catherine Brophy (St. John's), Rita & Mary Brophy (Fermeuse) & Beth Walsh (Kingmans). Visitation and celebration of Marcella's life will take place at Fahey's Funeral Home in Fermeuse on Tuesday, November 26 & Wednesday, November 27, 2013 from 2 a.m. to 9 p.m. with service being held at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Fermeuse on Thursday, November 28, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. with interment to follow at St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery. Reception to follow at Port Kirwan Hall. Flowers are gratefully accepted or donations can be mad to charity of ones choice.

General:

Email from Mary Harmon Braun 03/03/01: It seems that the parents' names for Anna Fogarty Quinlisk is Martin FORGERTY and Sarah Brocius all from Ireland son John Quinlisk as the informant.

Email from Jane Leahy 03/0301: Can't resist one quick word. I've seen those entries in the LDS database, and the correct spelling for our family is FOGARTY. Brocius is in error, and one distant family member said Anna's mother's name was BROPHY. Brophy occurs on other Quinlisk, Fogarty, Ryan documents in Warren Co., so seems like a real possibility that it is correct. Remembered receiving this [transcript of birth certificates for William and Mary Brophy (Anna's siblings] from Nora with the others. At the time she said these particular records did not go back beyond 1840. Annie Fogarty (Anna) was born in 1836. The parents names are the same. But in the US in cemetery records, Martin Fogarty and Rosa Fogarty are listed together. I guess it is possible that Sara may have died and he remarried - think I recall that Rosa was younger and they had a son later. But can't be sure of some of this! I do have letters from my Grandmother's sister, Anna Quinlisk Neu, talking about going to Lebanon (Warren Co) to visit, and writing something about "all those Fogartys". When in Ireland I photographed some cemetery markers with Fogarty names in Borrisokane. Will look those up. Jane
