Notes
General:
300614 from Ruth Standring:
believe that Sarah Ball/Robert Cockeram's son, Thomas Graham Cockeram, and his second cousin, Henry & Alice Brand's son, Charles Hayman Brand, emigrated to Australia on the Blanche Moore arriving in Melbourne, Victoria in June 1855 though the listed ages are not correct. I am not too concerned about the ages because it is known that the shipping records aren't exactly marvels of accuracy. It is interesting to note that the original shipping record is not written in alphabetical order and that "Chas H Brand" (age 27) and "Thos G Cockeram" (age 25) are listed next to each other suggesting they could have been travelling together.
Also, there are a couple of Australian newspaper articles in 1879/1880 which mention a Thomas Graham Cockeram, a rate-collector for the Wangaratta (Victoria) borough, being arrested for fraud but later acquitted. I don't have any further information for him though I have looked for death records in Australia (but not exhaustively). However, he may have returned to England or even moved on somewhere else, like New Zealand or even the US. I've already had one other family in our family tree do just that, though most eventually returned to Australia. I'm going to continue trying to track him down.
