John Thomas WHEELER 1231,1601,4047
1. Religion: RC: St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. This information found on the 1921, 1935 and 1945 Censuses and John and Agnes are buried in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. It is possible that John Thomas was C of E but the marriage was a mixed marriage so the children were raised RC. This event was shared with Agnes, L. Cpl. James Joseph WHEELER, Mary WHEELER, Peter J. WHEELER, and Phillip Joseph WHEELER. 2. Religion: Roman Catholic. 131 3. Minister/Priest: Thomas Martin Wood, 5 Aug 1866, St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. 4047 4. Literacy: Illiterate; signed his sister Caroline's marriage register with an X, 11 Jul 1875, St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. 4039 5. Occupation: Farmer and Fisherman, Torbay Rd, Between 1894 and 1898, St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. 658,805 6. Occupation: Farmer, Torbay Rd, 4 Jul 1900, St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. 4069 7. Property: Grant of 9 acres 2 roods and 28 perches between the land of his granfather Joseph and that of William Field, 4 Jul 1900, St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. 4069 This appears to be property just after the Majors Path on the same side of the Torbay Rd. between his grandfather's 1845 grant and that of William Field. If so, this land shows on modern grant maps as belonging to his uncle Philip. I suspect that this was merely a clerical error in entering the name on these maps as Philip never held title to this property by grant. John married Agnes. (Agnes was born in Jul 1864 in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada,33,692,1601 died in 1956 in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada 131 and was buried in 1956 in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada 131.) |
