Edwin William Jones, 1840-1906, the son of George Thomas Jones was his great grandfather. Edwin's son, Edwin William Joseph Jones (Nov. 17, 1875) was my husband's grandfather. E.W.J.Jones was born in St. Johns, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and immigrated to Melrose/Boston Massachusetts around 1894. Soon after that he met and married (1901) Catherine Agnes Dacey, who had emigrated from Ireland. Edwin became a naturalized citizen in 1903.Catherine and Edwin were the parents of eight children. Edwin left permanently around 1916, deserting the children and his wife. It is believed that he died around 1918, but none of his children knew this for certain. Catherine D. Jones died in 1923 at the age of 41 leaving several young children in the home. This is too much information, I'm sure, but did want to explain why we don't know what happened to my husband's grandfather...or when it happened for that matter.
