Now to introduce myself my name is Leanne and I am researching my mother's line which is LAING.I was going through the LDS site and came across a Jean Funkhouser who was researching a MaryLAING born 1805,Larbert,Stirling,I thought "WOW" you see Mary Laing is the older sister of my 4th G.Grandfather David LAING.Mary and David's parents were James LAING and Isobel GRAHAM.When I saw Jeans name and address I wrote to her,but my letter was returned . I also found the marriage of Mary to a William WEBSTER.I also have birth records of not only Mary but two of her children,at the time I took no notice of the name at the top of these certificates until a few months ago and it had Jeans name on them. By my calculations Im Marion Minty wife of Howard Leopold MORRY is my 3C2R,I think that means a very distant cousin.I normally will follow a sister or brothers line in the hope they will have info on my direct line,eg death date or record of Mary WEBSTER nee LAING. My mother Dorothy Jean Quirk, ( nee Laing) father's family immigrated from Scotland to Maryborough - Queensland - Australia. I have no documented proof of their arrival but I believe it could have been around 1910. Mum's father was Alexander Scott Laing born February 25, 1906, he was the 7th child of David Laing & Elizabeth Laing (nee) Gilmour.

Alexander Scott Laing married Gladys Isabelle Australia Aiken on December 21st,1927, at Maryborough - Queensland - Australia. From this union, our beautiful Mother, Dorothy Jean Quirk (nee Laing) was the 3rd child born to Alex and Gladys.
