General:

Name sometimes spelled Meagher, but probably an error because there was another Meagher family from Aquaforte, but they were not related.

July 2004: Dad and Uncle Bill told me that the Maher's who were looked upon as layabouts in the village, never had anything before they married into the White family. Photographs show Bill Jack's big green house at the end of Morry Lane, near Cold East Point in Ferryland. It was actually a gift from the Whites when he married Johanna. The land was purchased year's later by Uncle Bill's son Peter.
