251106: Information from Zita via David Wells somehow got mixed up. This is the father of Ellen etc., not a sibling.

NGB Website cemetery transcriptions reads: James Meade, died 22 September 1969; 82 yrs.

David Wells clarified with wife Anne Marie [Sesk] that this was a very unusual relationship. James Joseph Meade evidently married Mary (?)in about 1924 and had 6 children with her before her death in 1938. Then in about 1944 he married Veronica Mary O'Keefe and they had only one child (Bertha) before he died in 1969. He would have been 37 years older than his second wife, Veronica. After that to make matters even stranger, Veronica married her step-son Cecil sometime after 1969. They had no children, since she would have been over 45 by then. Perhapsthey also thought it wise not to draw attention to their unusual relationship. The step father of any children that would have resulted would have also been their grandfather! Cecil survived Veronica when she died in 1996, as did her only child Bertha.

291106: More from David Wells: For conformation, I suggest you look through the 1921, 1935, & 1945 Census data from NGB. Have them all open at the same time and compare the family info for the Meade's. It certianly does appear that Jim & Mary Meade had all the children except Bertha. From the census birth dates of Jim, it is the same Jim who married Veronica as she is listed ashis wife in the 1945 census. (Note - The birthdate I have for Betha comes from this census but it could be wrong. Anne Marie is listed on this census and her DOB is wrong. Not even close.)

As far as Cecil is concerned as Veronica's husband, Anne Marie is sure. Both were born in 1945 and went to school together. Anne Marie had kept in contact with Bertha after school. As far as James J. and Veronica is concerned, unlikely but true.

Nov 25. A nice day, went to a wedding. Jim Meade' s daughter Kathleen was married to Jim Brien at Nuptial Mass. There must have been at least 150 guests. Sure was a good time, I don't know where the day went. I came home at 10.30. Had a lovely .time listening to the old Come-All Ye' s and recitations, etc. which wil1 soon be taken over by rook and roll and jazz. Lots of the young folk don't want to hear a Come-All-Ye or songs like Annie Laurie, My Ain Folk, Take you home again Kathleen, the Isle of Innis Free, and songs like that. Times are changing very quickly and not always for the best. Tho' the kids are fine. I like them. They are enjoying themselves in their own way.

After much deliberation and checking of records of marriage and births, I have concluded that there is an error in the transcript of the baptism of Stephen Joseph meade which gives his father's name as Stephen, It should be James. because of this error I, and others including Don Lopes, had two husbands for Esther Barnable, James (for whom a marriage record exists) and Stephen (for whom one does not exist). Therefore today I have merged this false Stephen into James Meade and thereby have made him the rightful father of both Peter James Meade and Stephen Joseph Meade.
