This accords with information I had previously taken from Don Lopes' website but I suspect this is where he got his information and I aIso suspect it is incorrect. The repetition of the name Stephen for the son, father and witness is not sensible. I do not believe that Esther Barnable married twice, first to James Meade and then to Stephen Meade. I think she married only once to James Meade and that the birth of this child should be attributable to he and not to some other unknown Stephen Meade. I will continue to try and find evidence to support this but for now will leave things as they are.

After much deliberation and checking of records of marriage and births, I have concluded that there is an error in the transcript of the baptism of Stephen Joseph meade which gives his father's name as Stephen, It should be James. because of this error I, and others including Don Lopes, had two husbands for Esther Barnable, James (for whom a marriage record exists) and Stephen (for whom one does not exist). Therefore today I have merged this false Stephen into James Meade and thereby have made him the rightful father of both Peter James Meade and Stephen Joseph Meade.

William Meade - (March 29, 1970 - December 10, 2025) - It is with heavy hearts and immense sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Brother, Uncle, Nephew, Cousin and Friend, Willy Meade.
Willy passed away on December 10, 2025, surrounded by his loving Family at the age of 55.
Willy is predeceased by his loving parents, James Meade (Junior) and Patricia Meade (Ryan). He is also predeceased by members of the Meade and Ryan Families. Remembering him with love and cherished memories are his siblings: Steve (Noella), Tony, and Molly (Tommy). Also by his treasured nephews: Fred (Kate), Nick (Laura), and Noah (Gabrielle). Willy leaves a loving impact on many aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Friends and his cherished Godmother Marion Shannahan. Willy lived his life in Freshwater, Ferryland. He followed in his Father's, Older Brother's and Uncle's footsteps and became a fisherman. Fishing took Willy around the island and to the offshore where he met a lot of hard-working fishing buddies. Willy's journey on earth was a short one but had a significant mark on the world. Like the saying goes, "It's not the years in your life that matters, it's the life in your years". Willy's life was marked by his social spirit, infectious grin, generous heart, gentle soul and a knack for making those around him feel valued and loved.Willy took pleasure in the simple things in life. He enjoyed the company of his family and friends, a run in the country, time up to his cabin, a good laugh, a cold beer, and a good ol' feed.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported Willy. We are deeply grateful for the staff and residents of Alderwood Retirement Home who became Willy's second family. Words cannot express our thanks and heart-filled appreciation for your outstanding care and love. Also, we are thankful to the staff at Chancellor Park for their professionalism and care and the endless medical care and attention from Dr McGarry, the staff at SCMH, HSC and NL Health Services.

He appears in the Aquaforte Voters Lists starting in 1840 and is the only person of this surname to do so therefore it is a good guess that he is the father of the person of the same name born in 1842 in Aquaforte.

But in 1840 there is also a Sylvester Meagher on the voters list and it seems likely that they were brothers despite the temporary difference in the spelling of their surnames. Therefore I have ascribed this James also as a son of Edward Meagher and Ellen Williams pending proof or disproof.
