Because she died in Campbell River, BC but is show as being buried with her parents at Belvedere RC Cemetery in St. John's, Newfoundland, this raises the question of whether she is indeed buried in Newfoundland or simply memorialised on her parents gravestone.

It appears that Bert was first involved in this regiment in Montreal long before the war began. He had a long association with Montreal, choosing to overwinter there rather than return to Ferryland with his brother Howard a number of times when they had worked during the summer on the Prairies or West Coast.
Note that we only have his obituary as evidence that he served during the war. He certainly did not leave Canada and he may not have been in the active militia at that time, though he was before the war in both Montreal and BC. It was his obituary that stated he attained the rank of BQMS (Not Battalion Quarter Master Sergeant as this would normally mean but Battery Quartermaster Sergeant according to record found on LAC). All military records online (Ancestry mostly) show he attained the rank of Sgt. in Gunnery before the war but do not support his serving during the war.• Residence: Living with Uncle William Craig in Westmount, Cir 1906-1907, Montreal, Québec, Canada.

Morry, just as he gave it on his various military papers) and his known professional association as a carpenter prove beyond any doubt that this was Bert.

Notes
General:
Marriage date in Aunt Jean's records is 23 October 1911 but since she got the name wrong I'm inclined to accept the advice of her grandson Bruce Cameron on this.
27/09/01: Record in the Victoria newspaper (Tim 1911.10.21, 19) has the date as18 Oct. 1911, so no common agreement, but clearly Aunt Jean had it wrong when you look at the date the notice appeared in the newspaper (21 Oct.).
>>>>>>>>>>
According to Bruce Cameron they had four children, Catherine the eldest
Note in the newspaper at the time of the death of his father Thomas Graham Morry indicates that his father died at Albert's house.

210202: I am changing the date of birth from that given in Aunt Jean's records (November 13, 1883) because there is too much evidence contradicting this. The Holy Apostle RC Chrich record gives date of Baptism as November 19, 1882. While a Baptism might follow a birth by a year, it is hardly likely to be the reverse! Bruce Cameron's information indicates a date of birth of November 13, 1882. This not only conforms with the church baptismal record but also the information on age at date of death (see above) showing he was 54 in 1936.
220603: Note that BC Archives online has his name as Alfred Grahame Morry on his marriage record. Don't know where the transcription error began.
110606: Mary McKenzie Morry informed me that her father built the house at 2306 Shakespeare St. and they lived there until she was 6 at which time her father was unable to make a payment of $2000 and they had to move to her grandfather John Colbert's house (1339 Stanley Ave., Victoria, BC, Canada). Jack Neilon had taken us to see that house on a tour of Victoria in March 2006.
300707: Enid O'Brien informed me about a book out by Brother JB Darcy called "Noble to our View" and it is a saga of St. Bon's College. There is a section re achievements of ex-pupils and it mentions "Bert Morry (1698) was a highlly successful building contractor in Victoria, BC and Grand Knight of the Victoria Council of the Knights of Columbus of BC" In actual fact his descendants have told me that he went bankrupt as a builder and even had to sell his own home to get out of debt.
111208: From Dad Morry's 1965 Memoirs: "Came 1901 I was in my sixteenth year. My brother Bert had been working with Goodridge and Company in Renews for over two years, keeping the books and tending store, for $160.00 a year."
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
140713 from the Evening Telegram, a cutting from which was found in Dad Morry's scrapbook:
Death Comes Suddenly to Great War Veteran The death occurred at Victoria, B.C, recently of another Veteran of the Great War -- Albert G. Morry, aged 54 years. Deceased was the son of the late Thomas G. and Catherone White Morry, of Ferryland, and after graduating at St. Bon's College went to Western Canada in 1905; he worked in the Bank of Montreal for about a year, and then returned to the Prairies with his brother, Howard, who, however. later came back to Newfoundland. Like his father, Albert became a soldier, and joined up with the 5th Regiment, Victoria Rifles, being in service with them during the World War, and attaining the rank of Battalion Quartermaster Sergeant. His brother, Howard, was one of the original members of "C" Company, 1st Battalion, Royal Nfld. Regiment. To his widow, (formerly Miss Josephine Colbert), family, brothers and sister, relatives and numerous friends, we tender our deepest sympathy.

My Notation: The second name is spelled a myriad of different ways. The one used in the obituary is possibly wrong.
250710: New information obtained whilst visiting with Vic LeMessurier Badcock revealed that this is the lady who was responsible for having the photograph of John Henry and his daughters and niece copied. Vic has two versions of that photo and one, which was given by Vic's mother to Nimshi Crewe, is in PANL.
140813: No way of knowing when the actual birth took place as it was not recorded on the birth/baptismal record as transcribed on NGB website. What is given here is an error on another transcript which took the baptismal date as the birth date.
In transcript on NGB her name appears as Alice Wylis? Morry

In the obituary in the Daily News of her sister Flora it gives her name as Alicia Ellis. I have never seen her name written that way in any other source and I suspect it was an error on the part of the obituary editor.
