Note that there are two possible social security death records which are suspiciously similar to one another with regard to the date of birth except for the year being different in each case and also different from the information I had previously. However, the year of death is the same in both reports. I think he had two Social Security Numbers and the information they had on him was different.

Notes: Marriage performed by Rev. M.A. Clancey, P.P.
No one seems to know why they would have married in Renews. I'm guessing it was because it was a mixed marriage and that would have caused problems in Ferryland in terms of which church in which to get married.

Morry
From the Public Ledger, St. John's
11 June 1880
Married at Renews, June 1st, by
the Rev. M. A. Clancy, P.P. Thomas
T.G. Morry to Katie F. daughter
of John White Esq., Ferryland
My note They were Howard Morry's

Ferryland, Groom was Anglican
Bride R.C. and Howard recently
told me they were married at
Renews because the R.C. priest at
Ferryland refused to marry
them because the groom would
not consent to having all
children of the marriage reared
as R.C.s. Howard was reared
an Anglican and N. C. Crewe
only embraced Catholicism 23/3/1965
when about 21 to please his mother

250416:
Both Dad Morry and Aunt Jean had the notion, based on what information I do not know, that they were married in 1872. Nimshi Crewe's partial family tree (In MG281 at The Rooms) based on Dad Morry's information uses this date for example. There is absolutely no evidence to support this earlier date and every reason to believe it is not correct.

General:
Discrepancy on date of death - either 24 or 27 August, 1927 or August30, 1928.Medical:
Her headstone in the Ferryland Roman Catholic Cemetery reads: "Erected by T. G. Morry in memory of his beloved wife Katie Morry, died at Uplands 27 August 1927; aged 75 yrs. Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord."
But the Vital Statistics for Ferryland District (NLGS website data) indicate that a Catherine Morry, who was born and was buried in Ferryland, died of the Flu at age 75 in St. John's on August 30, 1928.
I suspect that the headstone and our records may be in error if this is the same Catherine Morry, as seems likely. Needs further research.
In the same plot are found the graves of Mom Morry - Fredris Minty (though she was not a Catholic), her daughter Priscilla and her great Grandson, Peter's son, Alexander William.
From email from Richard Sullivan dated 24/05/01:
4. vi. CATHERINE FRANCES WHITE, b. 1852, Ferryland, Nfld; d. August 27, 1927, Ferryland, Nfld. This helps to support date of death.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
July 2002: The caption on the photo of the Morrys and O'Driscolls in Catherine'sscrapbook here was written by Dad Morry and reads: "Back Row Left to Right Kathleen O'Driscoll, my first cousin, yours truly, Mom, the man behind the bunch of hair Dad, Front Row. Phyl O'Driscoll, Uncle Graham & Trix,"
The comma at the end is interesting because I bet he was going to go on to say that the little guy cut-off at the bottom was John, but decided not to bother since you couldn't see enough of him anyway. The only siblings missing from this photo would therefore be Reginald, who died in infancy, and Albert, who was three years Dad Morry's senior and had undoubtedly already gone out west to BC by the time this photo was taken. Dad Morry joined him there shortly after this photo was taken and they had many adventures over the next ten years or so which are recorded in Dad Morry's diaries. The O'Driscoll connection is as follows. Dad Morry's mother was Catherine Frances White. Her sister, Elizabeth May White, married Thomas O'Driscoll. I had never gotten around to researching the names of their children so now I know two at least, Kathleen and Phyllis.

February 28, 2004: In email from Dave Taylor (Dad's second cousin): "In going through some of the Ferryland records I noticed the headstone inscription for your g grandmother noting that she died at Uplands. What you may not be aware of is that Uplands was the name of Emma Lester's farm at Mount Pearl, so it cannot be found on a map."
020704. 30 AUG 1928, St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada From website. The conflict in date of death from other information needs to be resolved. It seems this date is erroneous.
re Marriage:
Originally had this date as 1872 from Aunt Jean's photocopied records but changed it to correspond with more preceise (and more accurate?) date on LDS site.
Clara Isabelle Winsor, who was their bridesmaid, married Thomas Graham when they were both in their 80s and widow and widower according to Helen Steinke.
Church records show Alfred White (her brother) and Florence Morry (his sister) were witnesses and M.A. Clancy officiated and the wedding did take place at Renews as Bruce Cameron's records showed.
According to Richard Sullivan email 24/05/01:
MUN Books= Katie F. White m- Thomas G. Morry June 1 1880 at Renews. by Rev M. A. Clancey.

Marriage performed by Rev. M.A. Clancey, P.P. Wife is referred to as Katie F. White.
040213: Geoff Martin found the marriage announcement in the Eveneing Telegram 1880-06-09 amongst the Google collection of digitised newspapers online:
Married. On the 1st. inst., at Renews, by the Rev. M.A. Clancy, P.P., Mr. Thomas G. Morry to Katie F., daughter of John White, Esq.
I do not believe that John White's family lived in Renews but rather Ferryland the same as the Morrys. This implies that either the RC church in Ferryland was not built at the time or the priest refused to perform a mixed marriage. But we know that the church was completed in 1865 so it is more likely the latter case.
Official cause of death was flu but family believed she died of food poisoning.
