240308: In message on Genes Reunited from Peggy Krause Hansen: "have Gertrude Sophia Carr born 1882/83 to Mark Wilson and Sophia Wheeler Carr. She died 20 Feb 1890 along with her mother Sophia. I have a newspaper account of that event which describes that they were both drowned in Whitley Bay. They had been living with Caroline Wheeler Carrand her family after the death at sea of Mark Wilson on 11 Nov 1887. There was an inquest into the death but the cause was ruled as accidental death with no known cause although Sophia had been despondent for some time after the death of her husband." Also this: "CHILDREN OF MARK WILSON CARR AND SOPHIA WHEELER CARR:

i.GERTRUDE SOPHIA CARR"

She was their only child. How ironic that mother, father and child should all die of drowning. DATE 1890 PLAC Whitley Bay, Tyne and Wear, England

191214:

Note that burial date was apparently delayed due to inquest.

Notes
General:
14/12/02: This relationship to Evelyn Morry's line of Wheelers is speculative for the moment, based solely on the fact that the father's Christian and surnames (John Thomas Carr) and the mother's Christian name (Caroline) appear in Evelyn Morry's father's name and sister's Christian name, plus the coincidence of the location of the Baptism. This needs to be substantiated with better facts.

The fact that there were two records of baptism by two different Ministers several months apart seems to indicate that she may have died asan infant and received the second baptism at the time of death but this needs to be proven with better documentation.

210308: Peggy Krause Hansen's family tree on Genes Reunited does not show thesecond record of baptism, so that matter cannot be sorted out. But her family relationships are comprehensive and show beyond a doubt thatCaroline and Sophie were sisters and married two Carr borthers, John Thomas Tertius Carr and Mark Wilson Carr, respectively. "I then have Isabella Maud born 18 Dec 1888 and christened 24 Dec 1888. I was not aware of a Feb. 1889 christening for her."

30/03/03:

I am not entirely certain that Mark and John are brothers but the fact that they both came from the Newcastle area and married sisters seems to indicate this to be the case.

240308: From information provided by Peggy Krause Hansen it is now abundantly clear that the two Carr brothers married the two Wheeler girls and that they were indeed Daddy Jack's aunts:

240308: In a message on Genes Reunited from Peggy Krause Hansen: "I have a son, John Thomas, born 13 Apr 1885 at Whitley, NBL. I also have him in the 1891 census for Whitley Bay, NBL as mentioned above."

111111: Peggy Hansen sent this additional information today:

I have recently come into contact with a descendent of John Thomas Tertius Carr and Caroline Wheeler Carr. This lady is a grand-daughter of John Thomas Carr born to John T. T. and Caroline 13 Apr 1885 in Whitley, NB. He married Ada Mary Grey, daughter of Thomas Grey of Gateshead in 1913. She was born 1882 in Gateshead. They had a daughter, Agnes Maud, born 1 Nov 1916. Agnes Maud married Francis Henry Lamming, born 3 Jul 1914 in Grimsby, Lincolnshire, 5 Nov 1946. He was a sea captain and they lived with John Thomas and Ada Mary at Lady Park, Ravensworth, Gateshead until 1959. If you "google" that you will see a picture of the large estate they lived on. Francis (Frank) and Agnes Maud had twin daughters born 15 Dec 1949 in Gateshead. I have been corresponding with Jennifer Mary who married James Thornell 20 Oct 1973 Harrogate, Yorkshire. She has met someone connected with the Wheeler family (a descendent of Caroline's brother, I believe) and has visited her and her husband in Canada. This was in 1988 or 1989 I think. Anyhow, Jennifer Mary and James Thornell have two daughters: Samantha Louise born 10 Jan 1975 and Stephanie Mary born 9 Feb 1978. Samantha is married to David Tempest and they have two daughters, Olivia May b. 1 May 2000 and Amelia Rose, b. 28 Nov 2003 in Oxford, England. Stephanie married Gordon McGuire in Manly, New South Wales. They have twins, Lachlan Alastair and Lucy Elizabeth born 7 Sep 2011.

Jennifer does not know a lot of whatever became of Isabella Maud and Elspeth, John Thomas's sisters, except that neither of them married. I would assume Sophy Maud born in 1877 died in infancy.

John Thomas died 2 Apr 1967 at Lady Park. Ada Mary died about 1953 at Lady Park. His occupation was as an "analytical chemist". Agnes Maud died 13 Jun 1978 at Gateshead and Francis Lamming died 17 Nov 1977 at Gateshead.

Ina na email to Peggy on 06112011 Jennifer passed on this information:

" was a Freeman of Newcastle. Something that had passed down through the male members of the Carr family."

210308: According to Peggy Krause Hansen's Gene's Reunited family tree, this John Thomas Carr married twice, He had Thomas Carr (1816), Sarah carr (1818), John Thomas Carr (1819), Matilda carr (ca 1821) and Roseann Carr (ca 1824) by his first wife, matilda Green. Richard carr (1835) and William Carr (1836). I have only entered the information on son John Thomas Carr, by his first marriage, because it is through that line that there is an attachment to the Wheelers.
