KITTERY, Maine - Kathleen Battcock, of Kittery, Maine, and Hampton Beach, N.H., died at the age of 92, on Wednesday, May 11, 2016. She was born Imogene Kathleen Dwane in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, on July 24, 1923. She graduated from McGill University in Montreal, Quebec and Columbia University in New York, N.Y. In 1951 Kathleen married Martin G. Battcock, her husband of 63 years until his death in 2014. They settled in Hampton Beach, N.H., in 1956 with the purchase of the Sea Gull boarding house on Ocean Blvd. This began a 40 year career. Kathleen started a real estate business, built four hotels, condominiums and a restaurant during the time living in Hampton Beach. Gifted with a sharp business acumen, she was in her element. In retirement, she settled in Kittery with her husband to enjoy the company of her children and grandchildren. Kathleen was a humorous woman with both a dry wit and a feisty character. She had a charismatic presence and will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by husband Martin G. Battcock, parents Fred and Anna Dwane, and sisters Marguerite Moquin, Virginia Dwane and Della Crawford. She is survived by four children; Martin Battcock Jr. of Falls Church, Va.; Ann (Battcock) Kane and John Kane of Hampton Beach, N.H.; Colleen Battcock-Conroy and husband Thomas Conroy of Falls Church, Va.; daughter Freda Battcock-Emerson and husband Thomas Battcock-Emerson of Kittery, Maine, and her sister Connie Mackay and Stuart Mackay of Belton, S.C. Kathleen delighted in her eight grandchildren, Shea, Flynn, Joseph, Samuel, and Madelyn Battcock-Emerson and Thomas, William and Emma Conroy. SERVICES: A Mass of Christian burial will be held at Saint Raphael's Catholic Church in Kittery, at 1 p.m., on Friday, May 27, 2016.
