Gravestone in Brigus South old Catholic cemetery is on Stonepics CD NF154 BSS012-8930-8957. The stone is heavily encrusted with lichen and weather worn.
It reads (to the extent that it is possible to make it out):
"To the Memory of William Battcock Who Died August 26th 1857 Aged 64(?) Years And His Wife ELEANOR Who Died December 7th 1857 Aged 62 Years Also Their Daughter ELEANOR Who Died February 28 1855 (?) Aged 21(?) Years"
Since some of these dates and ages conflict with information provided by other sources, primary Church documents need to be examined before the exact figures are accepted.

241013: Years ago I had recorded that the family tree of Eileen (Bunny) Best showed a baptism for this person on 15 May 1790 at Harbour Grace. I cannot check that fact now as the source no longer exists online but either I copied it incorrectly or they had their information wrong. There is no evidence whatever that this family ever resided in Harbour Grace. Therefore I am deleting this fact today.

180916:
According to Peter Cashin's memoirs, Will Battcock built the house that Peter's father, Sir Michael Cashin bought and raised his family in.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
011023:
Actually the above was a mistake. In the first part of Peter Cashin's memoirs written by he himself he did not say this. He said that Will Battcock did major renovations to their home under the direction of Peter Cashin's mother, Gertrude [Mullowny] Cashin. Sir Michael had no part in it. Indeed in that memoir Peter Cashin makes it abundantly clear that his father was abusive, hot tempered and frequently physically assaulted him (and others).
